Mental Health Awareness : part 1 #monthofmay

As we are starting the #mentalhealthawareness week, I was just reflecting on our families collective outlook on mental health, and how open are we in speaking about our pain points and finding an equilibrium. @_noeljoseph__ and @_diyajoseph_ (my siblings) joined me in a conversation which happened so organically when I broke down yesterday night feeling a little overwhelmed and hard to process alot of things, its one of those low moments, they pointed out how we have all turned out to be in these few years and how important the role of each of our decisions contributed to it, and how strong we are as a person now, the journey also has a part to play in that. Sometimes on my weak days I do doubt myself a little , on my low days, some comments of people tend to deeply disturb me, I am a softy at heart with all the hormones raging and boxing within my internal universe, but I feel like everybody should be intouch with their emotions irrespective of the gender stereotypes society lays on us. Our emotions are as beautiful and as ugly as we tag it, but in reality acknowledging and channelising it is the most beautiful aspect of being human beings.Mental wellness is always connected with physical wellness and vice-versa. A lot of Indian men doesnt know about the issues / medical conditions women face like PCOD and Hashimotos; even the pain of natural childbirth are alien to our Indian men, its sad and ignorant to not know about it. It is in our hands to educate the men in our family, among our friends and collegues. Its our duty also to help men normalise periods, birthing process and weight fluctuations, so that we are able to help people grow in a realistc environment rather than live and die as ignorant people. Some men I have spoken have felt a little alarmed asking are there many women with these pcod and hashimotos? It felt like they wanted to find the good ones from the lott, like how we find the good vegetables from the market. But in reality all women are good, these conditions like autoimmunue diseases or other hormonal imbalances doesnt make women any less of a woman, it makes women more resistant ; those women are #pheonixes, risen from the ashes of all the boundaries
