Whenever someone asks me advice about writing, all I say is “write about what makes you happy”, it should flow freely. Write what you love and love what you write. As we are growing older, if we modify the question and ask “ What should I do with my life?” I would respond by saying “Explore, travel often” because life is a journey. Don’t limit yourself from all the things you can explore, when you work, dont worry about spending a little on meaningful things like traveling. Before taking this short trip to Pondicherry about which I am going to mention, I always had a question in my mind “what is the purpose of my life?” And this question bugged me alot. And during the trip I found the answer to this question, find happiness in the little things, take alot of trips, just travel, read more, give a fair chance to pursuing all that you like including your hobbies. The happiness is in the little things always, learn to breathe easily whenever you feel tangled and panicked. And how do you breathe easy, by breaking free from your shackles and letting yourself loose a little. A lot of people have told me Pondicherry in Tamil Nadu can be explored in two days, yes you can have a short trip of two days to Pondy. But don’t expect to cover everything in Pondy in two days, because ita a beautiful place! I explored quiet a handful of places but then there are so many places I didnt. For a quick getaway two days in Pondy is relaxing and nice, even though it will tan you a little; you would be happily tanned! But if you ask my personal opinion then please keep atleast 4–5 days for pondy find all the beaches, cafes, art related places, places of architectural and historical significance, there are a lot to explore. So here are a few pics of the places I went during my two days trip:
Day 1 : Reached around 7 PM checked into our room. I had stayed in Banjara Homes an amazing and peaceful homestay with a beautifully painted bedroom , enough cupboard space, kettle , water and tea/ coffee packets, towels, bedsheets and pillows, a small balcony with few plants to water and a clean bathroom. Then we went to have dinner and a quick walk. Dinner was authentic and simple, we went in an Andhra Tiffin where we were served different types of Dosas with chutney and sambhar. During our after-dinner walk, we saw an idol being taken around the area with lights , music and great devotion. As soon as it crossed 8 PM all the small local shops were closed for the day. Cool breeze started to blow, which brought a little happiness to me who was sitting on the balcony in the heat.Later our room had AC, so we switched it on and watched a movie to sleep. So summation of Day 1 was just the authentic food experience and understanding the locality .
Day 2: I woke up early and witnessed the beautiful sunrise. We had tea and began the day with an energised smile. After a quick bath and jumping into my comfy shorts, we went for breakfast. In pondicherry mostly breakfasts can be expected as vegetarian only. We had Masala Dosa, Methuvada, chutney, sambhar and filter coffee. It was a very fulfilling breakfast. Then we booked a cab for our trip to a rural area near auroville to visit a friends cafe. The trip cost us above Rs450 ( it was within 500, but yet so expensive). Due to which we decided to take rental bikes for further exploring the places. After relaxing and taking some pics in our friends cafe, we took a rental bike and went to explore Auroville. We reached the auroville research centre and saw the exhibition there. Then we went on to explore the sound garden and Matrimandir. Even in such a heat, it was a very fulfilling experience. I loved playing out the instruments in sound garden. Then we went and had lunch in a little north indian restaurant called Roots, that food was clearly bad but still we had curd which was so cooling for the heat. Then I went home and rested for four hours, listening to music, lying down for a while, watering plants, walking in the balcony. Then later after 7 we went to explore Rock beach, it was a super blue moon day. There were lots of people there, we just walked peacefully, and took some selfies. Then we went to banana leaf BBQ restaurant and had a non veg dinner with chicken, naan, paneer and lime juice. Then we went home and watched a movie and slept.
Day 3: Early morning woke up and got ready, went to another veg restaurant; had poori sabzi and a mosambi juice. Then went to paradise island beach / eden beach. This was such a vast beautiful beach with cool waves lapping over our legs in such a hot climate. There were also caution symbols kept for jelly fish. After the beach fun, we went to have lunch at fishaurant, a sea food restaurant. They served us juicy prawns and their crab soup was so warm. I also liked their curd, it is so fulfilling to have curd in such a hot climate. Then we went and slept for a while , as the sun was at its peak. Then we went to explore Our lady of Angels church in white town and craft bazar. Amazing experience, we saw beautiful architecture and art and craft. Then we went to providence mall, had a nice mcd meal, their hot chocolate was the highlight and went home. On the way back there was rain and we got drenched in the rain. It was a magical and romantic experience.
Day 4: Every fun has to end, and so did our little trip. We had breakfast from the restaurant we went to have breakfast on Day 2, same masala dosa, methuvada and filter coffee. Inbetween everyday we had 2–3 coffees which I havent mentioned. The coffees of tamil nadu are amazing. Then we went to buy sweets for my family, neighbours and collegues at office ( ritual😁). Then by 11 :30 Am my bus came and I said bye bye to Pondy. I am so sensitive and so I cried a bit. It was a funfilled, thrilling and tanning 😁 experience. I will definitly visit pondy again.
