The Confidence Journey -- 007 : The Myths about Confidence


Here, are a few myths about "Confidence" :

1. Confidence is inborn, it is a by birth gift. Nah baby, confidence is acquired overtime.

2. Success has something to do with confidence, well you have to be confident enough to be successful in reality.

3.You will not be able to fake confidence. No way! acting is a skill remember?  You can look confident if you want to just on the outside, you just have to work with your posture and voice.

3. Being extroverted means being confident. Not necessarily no!! You can be talkative and welcoming and still have confidence issues.

4. Confident people enjoy giving speeches to a crowd or it comes easy to them. Na -da, Practice makes you perfect  and alot of courage from within. Confidence is not always about being easy in any situation. It simply means not giving up and trying your best.

5.There are no insecurities in confident people. Well, confidence is acquired and hence it is a work in progress. You might not be prepared for everything that life throws at you.

6. Confident means you are lordly/ overbearing/ proud. It depends on person to person how they feel about themselves and others. Confident people can also be humble and generous to others. A truly confident person doesn't have the need to put down others around him/ her.

7. Confidence is a round-the-clock non exhaustive resource. No you cannot be confident all the time, there will be challenging times when you might be filled with uncertainty.

8. Taking huge risks has something to do with confidence. Hey, who told you that? It's wrong ! You can be a person who is confident and yet take challenges in measured sane amounts, hello?????!!!! Don't try to act oversmart,and end up with nothing! Now , brave people would know that.

9. Self criticism is a motivating point for confidence. Nuh, that's a load of crap, constructive criticisms are welcome but you have to be compassionate to oneself to truly feel confident.

10. Confidence helps us/ is the driving force to "take action". Not at all!  To be successful, to feel confident you have to take the needed steps, you have to take action.
