Confidence has a complex and multifaceted connection to health- both your physical and mental health. As you know that if mental health suffers it will have an effect on your physical health and vice versa. When we have confidence and are filled with positivity we are positive and optimistic people which would mean that we are mentally and maybe physically in a good place. When know our selfworth and are sure about our abilities, then our mind would be strong, and healthy. But physical health can be affected due to other reasons as well. But to a certain extend if we have a strong and determined mind, it can help us with our physical illness. When confidence suffers, we are at a vulnerable position, lots of hormonal changes happen which can lead to physical illness. With low confidence builds stress and anxiety, which leads to hormonal changes, which can then lead to health issues. A negative self image can lead us to chronic stress, which releases cortisol, the stress hormones. An elevated cortisol can have harmful effect on our health. When this condition extends over a period of time that can lead to various health issues like Metabolic changes which creates a metabolic disturbance affecting our metabolism and appetite leading to weight gain etc, Mental health deterioration where you will experience depression or anxiety disorders, cardiovascular diseases - heart diseases or high blood pressure, or a weak immune system making us more prone to infections and other illnesses. Low confidence in personal or professional life can trigger chronic stress and anxiety leading into unwanted health issues.
Our self esteem and confidence are directly connected. With low self esteem there is a change to withdraw oneself from society, leading into isolation whereas isolation or loneliness can can also lead us to be socially awkward humanbeings who might lack confidence to approach anyone. Hence, we can say that self esteem , confidence and health forms a triangle, without any one of them we looses some kind of balance in our life and disturbances are caused. We are forever learners and adapters, we are never in a position to stop our quest for balance, we have to understand that learning about oneself knowing our strengths and weaknesses takes us a long way. When we can evaluate ourselves and take necessary actions, we will be able to journey smoothly in life. If we are careful, we can avoid alot of health issues. Surrounding ourself with not only optimistic and happy people but also uplifting people are very important.But at the end of the day, nobody can do any miracle to us which we cannot do for ourselves. At the begining I have added a quote by Diane Airbus, which says regardless of how we feel, we need to always look like winners, if you keep telling yourself that you are winner and you can , then only you can! The second part of the quote says even if you are behind, you just have to focus, get control show confidence that can give you a headstart. we are not born with confidence, we are learning to go with the flow. We are all learners, and we are all confident but until and unless we can manifest it by our optimism and control we cannot attain the balance between self esteem, confidence and health.
